Speck Design was approached by Noah Medical to design a galaxy system arm that could move through its expected range of motion and confirm that the lumen design relative to the arm was sufficient for clinical needs. To complete the project, Speck Design created a 1:1 scale prototype of the arm with mechanical joint modules that allowed for rotation and stabilization of the joint. The joint was designed to have a removable cover to allow for easy access to the interior of the joint for inspection. It was also designed to withstand 250 readjustment cycles and be shipped disassembled.?The arm was used for testing purposes, and after successful testing, it was incorporated into the Tool-in-Lesion technology.
