About Us
Rodger Motiska Design is an experiential design consultantcy that transforms the built-environment into “visitor experiences.”
We specialize in the creation of wayfinding signage, environments and visual identity that combines graphic design, dimensional design and technology to create compelling, memorable experiences that are strategically designed to educate, entertain and enhance your image.
Rodger Motiska Design is the successor of the nationally renowned firm Design/Joe Sonderman; whose work includes the design of logos for the City of Charlotte, Charlotte Motor Speedway and the University of South Carolina, the design of custom sign systems and sales centers for celebrated resorts such as Kiawah Island, Wild Dunes and Stratton Mountain, and exhibit design for hands-on science museums such as Discovery Place, SciTrek and Denver’s Hall of Life.
Following founder Joe Sonderman’s retirement in 2003, longtime associates Rodger Motiska and Tim Gilland took ownership of the firm; incorporating as DJS Design. The firm quickly established itself as a leader in the growing field of environmental graphic design, with an emphasis on college athletic facilities and campus wayfinding.
In 2009 Rodger took over leadership of the firm; capitalizing on over 35 years of leadership in the field of environmental graphic design, establishing an experiential design consultancy that focuses on design that transforms the built environment into compelling visitor experiences.
The firm's work has been recognized and published nationally including Design Achievement awards from the Industrial Designers Society of America, gold awards from the Society of Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Communication Arts Magazine (CA) and PRINT.
