hanni is an award winning women's safety razor dedicated to sustainability and a quality shave for women.
Prime Studio worked with founder Leslie Tessler to design a razor that delivered the most sustainable, user friendly, superior shaving experience.
We were tasked with designing a sustainable, single blade razor that could be used on any part of the body. The process began by identifying competitors' existing pain points. This led to the exploration of several concepts for the right handle with the end result being a weighted, plastic free handle.
Next we explored many different blade replacement methods and in the end opted for a modified butterfly opening as it was found to be the most intuitive during consumer testing.
Additionally, the recyclable Swedish Steel blades come in paperboard packaging with a handy blade bin for used blades. Once it’s full the entire blade bin just goes into the recycling stream.
This project has been awarded and featured in multiple highly regarded beauty industry publications including Vogue, Elle, and Allure.
