About Us

Practice + Theory is an interdisciplinary design studio based in Vienna and London.

Practice + Theory work on a range of projects from identities, typefaces, books and catalogues to exhibition design and installations. They’ve been featured in Creative Review, Grafik, Craft Magazine, Wallpaper, New Book Design (Laurence King), Imprint (Sandu Publishing), Logotype (Laurence King), Eat Me (Victionary), Produced with Love (Index Books) and Die Presse.

In 2011 and 2009 Practice + Theory was recognised for typographic excellence at the international ISTD awards. Their Consumable Book for the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), Vienna, was nominated for the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year Awards 2011 at the Design Museum, London, and their work was on display at the Aram Gallery during their Prototypes and Experiments: Cast & Moulds Show in 2011.

Since 2012 co-founder Andreas Pohancenik has been running experimental typographic workshops at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
