Iomico team was developing innovative trailer telematics solution for the US-based client.
BUSINESS OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the project set for IOMICO team by the Client were the
following:
to plan, design and develop a hardware and software in order to:
Tangible: increase sales of logistic services due to reducing risks of transportation, reduce operational expenses
Intangible: transforming the organization into a digital future, the introduction of new talent and ideas.
BUSINESS PROBLEM:
The shipment of goods by truck+trailers is a low margin business that needs good optimization of fleet expenses and fleet management. Currently, there are a lot of solutions on the market for trucks but no good solution for trailers
ANALOG SOLUTIONS DISADVANTAGES:
there is a large number of wires during the use of different tracking devices;
received data is inaccurate;
the devices have insufficient battery life for long stops;
it is difficult for drivers to bind new devices;
SOLUTION:
It was decided to that the solution for our client should consist of wireless devices and software.
Each device is installed in a certain section of a truck/trailer and gathers specific data in real-time.
TPMS sensor - measuring wheels’ temperature and pressure and sending measured data to TPMS receiver;
TPMS receiver - aggregation of many TPMS’s data sources in one dataset which easiest to process;
Temperature sensor - measuring and sending truck/trailer ambient temperature;
Camera - getting cargo photos on set up schedule or on certain trigger actions and sending that photos to the gateway or directly to the server;
Door sensor - determination of door state: opened/closed;
Gyroscope and accelerometer sensor - determination of truck/trailer orientation and acceleration; the result of the measurement process used as trigger action for camera shooting;
GPS - determination of track/trailer geolocation;
Gateway - aggregation of all the devices’ data sets
