About Us
Founded by Hank Houser and Gregory Walker in 2004, Houser Walker Architecture is an Atlanta based architecture studio focusing on cultural buildings and the culture of building. We offer a holistic and ecological approach to architecture, planning, interior design, and consulting services. With a growing office of seven, HWA is engaged with leading clients on cultural and civic projects throughout the Southeast. Currently, we’re working on an expansion to the River Heritage Museum in Paducah, KY; a new public library for DeKalb County in Atlanta; masterplans for a new Innovative Learning Resource Center and the recently acquired North Avenue Apartment complex at the Georgia Institute of Technology; an environmental learning center for Forsyth County, GA; renovation and exhibition work for The Fernbank Museum in Atlanta, as well as a new headquarters for retromodern.com. Houser Walker Architecture was awarded AIA Atlanta’s 2008 Emerging Voices award, recognizing the quality of HWA’s body of work to date.
Houser Walker Architecture is a boutique practice, focusing on projects which engage the public realm, including museums, libraries, learning centers, schools, universities, and arts institutions. Our office is structured to ensure dedicated staff members are committed to a project through all phases. We operate as a collaborative studio, with each commission retaining at least one Partner throughout, along with a Project Manager, Project Architect, and team members as required, depending on the project requirements. We believe our role is to lead and direct an inclusive and collaborative process involving owners, designers, consultants, contractors, and fabricators, achieving more with fewer resources.
