Client Objective:
The goal was to design a vest that would increase the efficacy of hairdressers by providing quick access to frequently used machine heads.
Design Approach:
Multiple approaches were considered and tested, including ferrous metal, non-ferrous metal, and plastic machine heads. The busy work environment, weight distribution, and ventilation of the vest were researched and studied to reach optimal design.
Outcome:
The result is a lightweight and functional vest with mechanical and magnetic placeholders for the machine heads. The professional vest uses aluminum clamps that have standard trimmer head dimensions. The action of changing a trimmer head, resulting in a reduced learning curve for the user and increased reliance on muscle memory. A defined area for magnetic accessories adds versatility.
