An idea starts with a negative. With something that is'nt there, something that needs to be created. We believe in negatives; Design is always unfinished before its finished. It is always wrong before its right. We believe that in design, art, work, society, life, problem solving is far too over-rated. Problem creation is a much more interesting and valuable skill.
We focus on developing this skill over all others, without it the ability to create, draw and compose is critically restricted. The ability to recognise a problem where others don't throw up infinite opportunity for originality. Transformation.
The freedom to create a unique set of problems transforms and raises the level of design. It gives a piece of design the extra dusting of integrity that separates it from a piece of work which merely solves a given problem.
We know that the question is far more profound than any answer or solution can ever be. We recognise that it is not our job to solve all the problems inherent in a piece of design but to use design as a means to pose new questions for others to explore. Creating a new set of problems opens a fresh space for growth and room for a design to take on its own life. Questions expand, are infinite. Answers, a full stop.
