The development of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the world of professional competition has to often battle against two conflicting deliverables: the desire for performance, whilst maintaining the highest level of protection and comfort for the athlete.
Through the utilisation of athlete scan data, rigorous materials testing and iterative ergonomic prototyping, the Pursuit and Sprint helmets were able to fulfil these deliverables without compromise. The helmets construction employs a dual-shell structure, comprising of a custom fitted inner shell and an outer shell that is shaped for optimum performance. Between which a unique energy absorbing lightweight aluminium honeycomb crash structure provides superb impact protection.
The result, without sacrificing athlete safety or comfort, was the creation of the world’s most efficient helmets. At London 2012, whilst wearing the helmets, Great Britain won a total of 31 medals, 25 in the velodrome, 2 on the road, and 4 on the track - 17 of which being gold. It was a fantastic achievement, and we are extremely proud to have been a part of that success.
