Coffee Cultures opened its doors to San Francisco's Financial District in July 2013, serving delicious, socially responsible coffee and locally-sourced, artisanal foods. Located in the landmark Standard Oil Building, CDA completed the classic look by creating custom letterforms for Coffee Cultures' branding and having the logotype applied in gold leaf to the door and windows of the restored 1921 storefront. Designed with European black-letter type and American diner-style script in mind, we then built the brand around this custom lettering, exploring travel ephemera: train tickets, boarding passes, passport stamps—echoes of old world San Francisco for a cosmopolitan clientele. Before the coffee bar's opening, CDA designed its construction wrap to generate buzz and street level visibility. CDA‘s integrated branding program included identity, environmental graphics, website and merchandise.
