Designed by AME for Dale Hardware, the Jigtech device helps joiners to fit door handles in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods. The easy-to-use device saves contractors & fitters up to 20 minutes when installing a handle and latch to interior doors.
AME developed the Jigtech product from concept through to prototyping, testing and volume manufacturing, drawing on our experience of developing tools for the DIY sector.
The development program initially involved creating a range of mechanical solutions which were tested using our in-house prototyping facility. The product aesthetics were then explored and integrated with the favored mechanical design to produce a number of product concepts. The jig was then developed in CAD to a level suitable for volume manufacture.
Prior to launching the product, Jigtech utilised our low volume production facility to produce vacuum cast components of the final design. This enabled them to trial the device in the field in advance of committing to volume production.
The innovative jig product incorporates an adjustable latch bore and self-centering clamp system that quickly marks out and guides the user when drilling a door to install a handle and latch. Using the jig alongside Dale’s door furniture, latch, and spacer system simplifies the installation process even further.
AME created a unique brand proposition for the Jigtech that can be implemented across future products.
